Recent News: Will release her new EP fence sitter on October 24 through Universal Music Canada.

Through her colorful blend of pop, blues and rock influences, Canadian singer-songwriter Lindsay Ell is proving just how far the boundaries of country music may be expanded. Currently gearing up for the release of her new EP fence sitter, out October 24 via Universal Music Canada, Ell will share with the world her whimsical and emotive journey through the pop music world.

While Ell initially made her professional musical debut in 2006 with the release of her inaugural album Consider This, which she co-wrote and produced, the singer had been immersed in music since years before then. Getting her start on the piano at six years old, Ell started songwriting at the age of 10 after falling in love with the Blues. Famed guitarist Randy Bachman discovered Ell when she was 15, and she then went on to release her debut full-length project. In 2008, Ell toured alongside Blues legend Buddy Guy, and the following year she independently released her sophomore album Alone.

After releasing her first two albums, Ell soon embraced her definitive country roots, eventually moving to Nashville and signing on with Stoney Creek Records not long after. In 2013 she released her first official single, “Trippin’ On Us,” which firmly established Ell’s place in the Nashville country landscape. This single alone earned Ell great praise, with many publications noting her status as a rising star within the country genre.

After making her Grand Ole Opry debut in 2014, Ell released her debut EP Worth The Wait in 2017. In total, Ell now holds five studio albums and two EPs to her name, and the “Can’t Do Without Me” singer is now preparing for the release of fence sitter, her third EP.

In the years since making a name for herself in the country music scene, Ell has released numerous musical projects, toured alongside some of country’s most renowned names (e.g. Brad Paisley, Sugarland, Keith Urban) and served as the host of Canada’s Got Talent from 2022 to 2025. In 2023, Ell opened for Shania Twain on her Queen Of Me Tour, even going on to play guitar for Twain at her Las Vegas residency in 2024. Last year, after signing with Universal Music Canada, Ell’s new musical releases marked a shift in sound as she gravitated more towards the pop genre.

On fence sitter, Ell continues to make this shift towards pop. Maintaining her signature sense of storytelling that may only be found in the most honest of country songs, Ell proves that she can maintain her unique musicality no matter the genre. Through raw explorations of love, heartbreak and relationships, Ell conveys an artistry that is as relatable as it is healing. Always taking her music to new heights, there’s no doubt that fence sitter will continue to positively expand upon Ell’s sonic identity and range.
