Fans of Sub Urban have something more to celebrate this Halloween weekend: the experimental soloist released his latest single, “Mercury,” a moody song that places the listener in a liminal space.
Known for his ominous and genre-bending sound, “Mercury” falls right into place among Sub Urban’s dark-pop discography, most comparable to his single “Fingernails” from his latest full-length record, If Nevermore (2025).
Sub Urban shared insight on “Mercury” just before the song’s release:
“The summer night I put the first draft of this song together, I could not think of a name for it. The demo was self titled, ‘Sub Urban’ for the longest time before I would eventually name it ‘Mercury’. Up to this point, this song has defined me more than any other I’ve made sonically.”
“Mercury” is out now, available on streaming platforms.
The creative project of Daniel Virgil Maisonneuve, Sub Urban gained international recognition for his RIAA double platinum-certified hit “Cradles” (2019), which took TikTok by storm.
The New Jersey artist has since written, produced, and collaborated with many artists, including Aurora, Rei Ami, BENEE, Sueco, and more. Most notably, Sub Urban is a co-writer and producer of alt-pop singer Bella Poarch’s 2022 EP Dolls, including the viral sensation “Build A Bitch.”
In June 2025, Sub Urban released his sophomore record, If Nevermore, a dynamic 14-track album including standout singles “Skinny Loser,” “Make Me Forget,” and “See Myself.”
