Louisville’s most delightfully unpredictable export, Wombo, have unveiled “S.T. Tilted,” the final teaser from their upcoming album Danger in Fives, arriving August 8 via Fire Talk Records. The track is a vivid distillation of the trio’s offbeat alt-pop formula: Cameron Lowe’s jagged guitar lines dart in and out of Sydney Chadwick’s dreamy vocals and bass, while Joel Taylor’s skeletal percussion leaves enough space for tension and groove to breathe.
“S.T. Tilted” is Wombo at their most adventurous, with the accompanying self-produced music video, directed by Lowe, reinforcing their DIY artistry. Featuring a hand-built waiting-room set constructed in Chadwick’s garage, the video is a fittingly eccentric visual for a song born from basement jam sessions and creative left turns.
On Danger in Fives, Wombo reinvent their own writing playbook. Abandoning their typical basement rehearsal grind, the band embraced spontaneity, experimentation, and a willingness to “get away from a results mindset,” as Lowe explains. The album sees subtle shifts in their palette using digital textures and drum machine accents while preserving the sharp, kinetic interplay between bass, guitar, and percussion that’s defined their sound since forming in 2016.
Wombo will celebrate the album’s release with an intimate hometown show at Louisville’s Whirling Tiger on August 8 before embarking on a sprawling North American, UK, and EU tour this fall. Stops include Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right (Sept 12), Chicago’s Empty Bottle (Sept 17), and dates in London, Montreal, Los Angeles, and more.
With Danger in Fives, Wombo are bending reality into strange, exhilarating shapes. “S.T. Tilted” might be the gateway, but the rest of the album promises to tilt the whole room.
