Winona Fighter announces deluxe edition of ‘My Apologies to The Chef’

Date:

Winona Fighter, the woman-fronted rising punk band, announced earlier this week that they will be releasing a deluxe edition of their critically acclaimed debut album, My Apologies to The Chef. The album is an act of catharsis, dealing with the angst and anxiety of being alive with punchy instrumentals and lyrics that wax poetic. The extended album is set to be released on all streaming platforms on September 5th, with a limited edition vinyl available for pre-order now.

The deluxe album will feature acoustic versions of every song from the original release as well as bonus covers of Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage” and Violent Femmes’ “Blister In The Sun.” All in total, the deluxe album totals 31 tracks, a true artistic feat, and if you think that’s a little crazy –  don’t worry, Winona Fighter knows. Frontwoman and multi-instrumentalist Coco Kinnon shares:

“If you’re thinking, ‘is this a band full of crazy people?”… you’re not far off. Why are we releasing a 31-track, half-electric, half-acoustic, deluxe version of our debut album we released earlier this year? Well, I don’t know, but we had a damn good time creating it.”

The album was recorded just after the first leg of the band’s YES CHEF tour where they were able to play all the songs from the album and experiment with the composition of these songs. Many of the changes made during the tour continued on to inform how they would be rerecorded on the deluxe edition. Kinnon elaborates:

“There are quite a few elements in the deluxe, I think listeners are going to be pleasantly surprised about. Some songs we even recorded just the 3 of us around a single microphone. It’s raw, fun, and totally rock n roll garage band vibes. Happy listening!”

Also featured on the deluxe edition is Winona Fighter’s newest release, “Don’t Get CLOSE,” which is out now. The song didn’t find its way onto the initial release of My Apologies to The Chef, but with the deluxe edition, Kinnon shares that “it was a no-brainer that it was finally the song’s time to shine.”

Winona Fighter pulls no punches with their music. Their songs pull you in, ensnaring you with punchy guitar riffs and heart-thrumming guitar beats, only to bite you with lyrics that are raw, angry, and powerful. If there was ever a time to listen to Winona Fighter, it would be now.
