Violet Grohl shares “THUM” music video

Date:

Alt-rock songstress Violet Grohl shares the music video for her latest single “THUM,” released via Republic Records through her imprint, Auroura Records. An upbeat and gritty track, Grohl explores the inner struggle of bad habits and losing control through a smoky sonic palette that is uniquely her own.

Initially available to stream exclusively through Bandcamp, Grohl’s singles “THUM” and “Applefish” are now both available on all streaming platforms.

The music video for “THUM,” directed by Nikki Milan Houston, was shot on a Super 8 and 16 mm film, further amplifying the track’s undeniable retro feel. Despite being her debut music video, the 19-year-old Grohl has firmly established for herself both a sonic and visual identity that is fiercely raw, ethereal and visceral.

Grohl’s latest musical effort arrives after the release of her single “What’s Heaven Without You” back in January. Released one year after the death of legendary film director David Lynch, the single was written in the aftermath of the Los Angeles wildfires that took place in January of 2025. Shortly after the release of “What’s Heaven Without You,” Grohl announced her signing on with Republic Records.

Through her recent run of inaugural singles, it’s evident that Grohl is an artist who is as diverse in her work as she is intentional. Whether it’s through the atmospheric, haunting melody of “What’s Heaven Without You” or the ’90s rock-inspired heaviness of “THUM,” there’s no denying that Grohl will continue to make waves within the modern rock circuit.
