Tokyo Tea Room master modern dream pop in new single, “I Would”

Date:

Hailing from Margate, UK, Tokyo Tea Room‘s new single “I Would” has a rich taste and groovy tone listeners of The Maria’sJungle and Faye Webster are going to devour. With a lush guitar, beautiful bass line and tender vocals, Tokyo Tea Room is able to create a space of relaxation and tranquility within the time of 3 and a half minutes.

Every aspect of the instrumentation compliments each other; but the guitar most definitely steals the show. Its reverb and lush texture are hypnotizing and even act as a backing vocal in the chorus, following along with the vocal melody. The sound gives the mix some enriching movement, yet its change to a sharper tonality in the solo gives the song a subtle variation and transition to the final chorus.

The soft electronic keys give the song a basis and direction that is perfectly built upon. Trying to keep the easy vibe of the song, there are only small changes in the instrumentation, but the dream pop band give just enough variety with a quiet synth in the chorus, stopping the song from becoming too repetitive. The bass line and drum beat may, at first, seem simple, but they highlight how Tokyo Tea Room know the role each instrument plays within their music.

The lyrics and melody perfectly meld into the soundscape with a vocal delivery by lead singer Beth Rose Dunn that has a delicate warmth, tying the entire song together.

Altogether, “I Would” highlights Tokyo Tea Room’s expertise as both individual musicians and a group. Each element of this song fits in with one another with no clashes. Simply put, this song is soothing to listen to.

“I Would” features on Tokyo Tea Room’s debut album No Rush, so if comforting tunes are what you’re looking for, this UK band most definitely has them.
