After a nearly-three year wait since their last release, The Japanese House has returned with the emotive, beguiling track “Boyhood” and promises of a new era on the way.
“Boyhood” is a bubbling, masterwork of synth-pop that features Amber Bain’s keen ear for production alongside some of the most honest lyricism of her career. As the song works its way towards a crescendo, Bain proclaims in the chorus “I could have been somebody who / You wanted to have around to hold / I should have jumped when you told me to / I wanna change but it’s nothing new / And if I grow I’m gonna get so old / Will you hold me like you always do?”.
