The Blues and Greys cast a witchy spell with new single “Black Spring”

Date:

Indie-rock band The Blues and Greys have just released the single “Black Spring,” and it’s safe to say that the arrangement will leave listeners simultaneously entranced and thrilled.

Front woman Lindsay Waldon’s effortless vocals soar over the track’s choruses and intensify its verses; her impressive capacity to belt could be drawn in comparison to radio queen P!nk’s clarity and control. A particularly engaging aspect of the song’s arrangement are the driving drums (played by Joey McDermott) and synth layers that creep up on the listener as the song progresses.

And while the group’s sound may not directly align with the pop-punk genre, Waldon may additionally find recognition alongside strong female voices like Hayley Williams of Paramore. Waldon and McDermott are joined by bassist Michael Million, with Zachary Wallace on keyboard and guitar. The band plays with such chemistry that renders their music not only otherworldly, but timeless.

The distorted feedback that closes out the track leaves notes of chaos and disarray that compliment the lyrics that highlight themes of similar nature.

If production is something you pay attention to, you may enjoy this single if you’re a fan of Tate McRae or Bad Suns. The piece was engineered and mixed by Eric Palmquist, who has notably worked with the aforementioned artists.
