19-year-old fiddler, multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Tessa Dalton just released her most recent single, “I Keep Changing”.
At such a young age, Dalton has earned early recognition in the music industry. Her previous singles, “Honest” and “You See Me”, were selected as semifinalists out of almost 14,000 entries in the 2023 International Songwriting Contest. She currently is studying at Belmont University, where she is studying commercial music and working to earn a bachelor’s degree in commercial fiddle.
As Dalton puts it, “You See Me” is “an alt-pop/rock anthem about the inner struggle for self-acceptance through the phases of life”. Originally written on piano, “I Keep Changing” transformed into an edgier piece, with the final product featuring drums and guitars.
The production is overall very beautifully done, with Dalton’s clear voice standing out against a fantastically edgy soundscape. Dalton’s musical style is something that is hard to master at just 19 years old, but she does it brilliantly.
