Teigen Gayse gets closure after a relationship on “The Best Part”

Date:

It has been a little while since we have heard from Teigen Gayse, but rest assured, she is not going anywhere any time soon. The rising country artist has received much recognition over the years, as her music and songwriting talents have impressed media outlets and notable collaborators alike. Her 2023 hit “If You Show Me Yours,” for instance, became a Top 30 radio hit and accrued over 3M streams. Its follow-up, “Sleeping With Her,” ranked higher, peaking at #21 in the Top 30. Last year, she cleaned up pretty well at the BCCMA Awards, winning Female Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Interactive Artist of the Year. She also earned a CCMA nomination for Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Her songwriting skills have led to writing sessions with respectable artists like Chad Kroeger, Patricia Conroy, and Gavin Slate, to name a few, and her ability to shine on stage has made her a standout at festivals like Boots & Hearts, LASSO, and the Calgary Stampede. There is definitely much more to come from Teigen, and she kicks off her next chapter with the fittingly titled “The Best Part.”

On “The Best Part,” Teigen playfully tells off someone who could have had it all. She’s witty yet charming throughout the track, dropping cheeky lines like “If our love was a bucket, you kicked it” and “Damn, your loss / Like a Jack and Rose diamond in the ocean.” In the end, this person “missed the best part” of the relationship, but really, they’re the one to blame. And with Teigen’s fun-loving vocals, the boot-stomping rhythms, and the anthemic choruses, she is getting along just fine without this person around.

About “The Best Part,” Teigen shares,

“‘The Best Part’ is a fun, outgoing song that tells the story of a guy who completely fumbled and missed out on all the best things he could have had in a relationship. For me, it’s about turning that disappointment into something lighthearted and empowering—a reminder that sometimes the best closure is realizing you were always the best part.”
