Surf-rock band The Moss announces upcoming third EP ‘Free Ride’

Date:

Alternative-indie band The Moss announced that their upcoming EP, Free Ride, will debut on Oct. 3. The opening track, “Darkness,” is an introspective, 1970s-rock-inspired lead single that was released earlier this summer.

The Salt Lake City natives shared the EP announcement on social media, sharing that the project “is a 4 song trip that you can take on any given Tuesday, out Oct 3!! We are very proud of the music we made and can’t wait to share it with everyone.”

At the same time as the EP was announced, the four-piece was back in the studio to record previously unreleased tracks that debuted live on their headlining tour in 2024. Fans can expect studio recordings of songs such as “Big Blue Moon” and “Your Way” on an upcoming project.

“We’ve been rolling around in a lot of melodies these last couple years so, we are stoked to be getting them printed into existence and laced into your memory programs,” the surf-rock band shared.

The Moss gained critical acclaim for their bittersweet hit “Insomnia” from their extended play of the same name, and the single appeared on the Spotify U.S. Viral 50 Chart in 2023.

Their follow-up single, “The Place That Makes Me Happy,” also gained national recognition, earning the band a top spot on SiriusXM’s Alternative-Rock charts, including Alt Nation’s year-end “Alt-36” chart in 2024.

The Moss will perform a hometown Halloween show in Salt Lake City, Utah, at The Complex on Saturday, Oct. 25, with support from hip-hop band and local friends of the headliner, Bad Luck Brigade. Remaining tickets are available here
