If the November chill has you feeling down, Subtle Orange‘s new single, “Bailey’s,” is the antidote. This up-and-coming indie-rock band is comprised of 5 childhood friends – Dane, Swain, Max, Shay, and Adam – from the San Francisco area. During the pandemic, the group moved to a cabin in Montana, where they developed “Bailey’s.” The band worked with producer Stefan Mac on the track, who perfectly captured Subtle Orange’s sound by utilizing analog synths and ’70s-inspired guitar tones.
“Bailey’s” starts out as an unassuming song, but Subtle Orange takes a risk that elevates the track. The 2:26 mark features a tempo change, followed by a vibrant guitar solo – an unforgettable moment. The song tells the story of a carefree young couple, who, like the band, is unafraid to bend the rules. About the single, Dane says, “(It’s) about embracing uncertainty and being present. (It’s) about risk, passion, and not taking yourself too seriously.” Adam adds, “(The song) is reminiscent of the freedom and recklessness that comes with being young.”
