Sophie Powers has abandoned her signature neon bubblegum aesthetic for her most provocative release yet on her new single “muddy.”
Described as “fusing glamour, grime and electronic grit,” Powers leans into a darker, more sultry sound on “muddy.” The singer-songwriter and fashion designer is full of attitude as she details the messy side of desire and infatuation. Powers showcases her grittier, lower register as she sings lines like “Glamorous, but we could get ugly / Sweat could drip, I wanna get muddy” and “Push up on me / Now I got you by the throat.” Speaking on the track, she shares,
“It took me five years to write this song. ‘muddy’ is my most provocative song lyrically and visually that I’ve ever put out. I started releasing music in 2021, and only now, in 2025, am I comfortable getting ugly, disgusting even, for the sake of my art.”
Powers continues to prove herself as an exciting act to watch in pop music with her genre-defying sound and unapologetic attitude. Everything about “muddy” screams bold, different and enticing for the rising star. She’ll be performing at Vans Warped Tour in Orlando, FL this November, which is now completely sold-out.
