Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre share December release date for ‘Missionary’ album

Date:

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are reuniting for a new collaborative album, Missionary, slated for release on Dec. 13, through Death Row, Aftermath and Interscope Records.

Teased since March, this project serves as a follow-up to Snoop’s iconic 1993 debut album Doggystyle, which Dre produced. Doggystyle was a massive success, debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and eventually selling over 11 million copies worldwide. Doggystyle was originally released on Nov. 23, 1993, by Death Row and Interscope Records, and recorded and produced following Snoop’s appearances on Dre’s debut solo album The Chronic (1992), and is now considered one of the most significant albums of the decade.

Missionary will feature a diverse roster of collaborators, including Sting and Jelly Roll, though Dre hinted he would mostly focus on production, with his vocals only appearing on one song. “Man, it’s an amazing roster of artists that’s on this album. I shouldn’t have revealed that, to be honest,” he said earlier this year. Dre has described Missionary as distinct from Doggystyle, calling it some of his best work yet.
