Slow Collision’s new single “I’m Too High, I Can’t Jump” embodies a full circle moment on new EP

Date:

Slow Collision’s new single, “I’m Too High, I Can’t Jump” is the last to join his newly completed EP, I’m Too High, I Can’t Jump.

Unlike his previously released single, “Everything I Ever Wanted,” the new track is much more spacious in its soundscape and refreshingly raw in vocals with a clearer tone. Known for a more post-punk vibe, Nick Greenberg’s production on this track sounds more acoustic and easier to digest for a newer listener as he sings: “All in due time / Now I’m too high I can’t jump / She says no one makes her feel like he could make her feel / And she so enigmatic when she acts like she’s not even real.”

In this calming and hope-driven single, Greenberg takes us through of a journey of loving someone who isn’t readily available. Not wanting to mess up his chances, he puts his trust in time, but soon realizes he has put himself in an impossible situation. The lack of confidence builds as we watch his story unfold: “She says nothing is worth her time / So she gets drunk instead / Her mind / Psychological perfection / Watch as I ascend / Into my climb / I’m not going to mess this up / All in due time / Now I’m too high I can’t jump.”

The sophomore EP is wonderfully written, produced, and performed by Greenberg. It mixes post-punk with sprinkles of 80s sparkle in synth and bass, as well as some minor folk influence, making the EP feel like a full-circle moment in time as we step into Greenberg’s world.
