Nashville-based singer-songwriter Savanna Leigh has been perfecting her songwriting through releasing vulnerable songs that share her story. The experiences she writes about allow her to be genuine and open with her fans, creating a universal sense of understanding and connection. Her latest release “reminders of you” focuses on the aftermath of a recent breakup.
“reminders of you” is a reflection on how life changes when a relationship is over. Through melancholy acoustic guitar and soft harmonies, Savanna Leigh points out the differences in her life since a separation from her partner. The chorus sings “Now the flowers don’t bloom / And the summers don’t taste the way they used to / And it feels kind of strange laying down in my room / And the reminders of you”, which shows the memories of this relationship still haunting her even after time has passed.
Sharing more about “reminders of you”, Savanna Leigh comments:
“There will be relationships that will inevitably come to a dead end, that’s a fact. It could be as abrupt as a light switch or a slow yet steady burn. I personally remember memories in vivid detail, which can be a blessing or a curse. Looking back at my recent losses, everything around me feels tainted by that sadness or hurt, as if it’s a stalking gray cloud. All the good and bad memories along with emotions haunt me. This song was my way of expressing that feeling and I just lay here within it.”
