Samia kicked off her Bloodless Tour last week with a stop at one of Boston’s most iconic venues: House of Blues. The tour supports the release of her highly anticipated new record, Bloodless, a project that marks a striking evolution in her sound and storytelling. Even though this was only night two of the tour, the Boston show set the tone for what promises to be a powerful and emotionally charged run of performances.

Opening the night was the incredible Raffaella, who I had the chance to see open for Maya Hawke back in 2023. She was the perfect choice to kick things off: radiating energy, charisma, and effortlessly warming up the crowd for Samia. Her set was playful, confident, and left a lasting impression. I already can’t wait for her to return to Boston, whether as an opener again or stepping into the spotlight for a headlining show of her own.

Next up was Samia, who opened her set with the fan favorite “Triptych.” I saw her several times last year while she was opening for Bleachers, and it’s been such a joy to watch her evolve as an artist. Back then, she was performing some of the Bloodless tracks before they were even released. To now witness a crowd of 2,000 people singing along to every word: it’s a powerful reminder of how far she’s come and how deeply her music resonates with fans.

She continued with a few deep cuts from Bloodless, including “Sacred,” “Proof,” and “Carousel.” Unsurprisingly, the crowd sang along to every lyric, swaying and nodding to each beat with infectious energy. Midway through the set, she launched into another fan favorite “Kill Her Freak Out,” from her previous record Honey. As soon as the opening notes hit, the room lit up, and when she reached the line, “And I hope you marry the girl from your hometown and I’ll f–king kill her and I’ll f–king freak out,” the audience screamed it back at her with cathartic intensity.

Later in the set, Samia performed “North Poles,” a song she revealed was written about Raffaella. “This is a song I wrote about Raffaella, who, like I said, is the greatest woman to ever walk the planet,” she told the crowd, sparking a wave of cheers and affectionate laughter. She continued, “I really value friendship, and I think if you have a best friend or a soulmate in your life, you’re incredibly lucky and you should hold on to it for dear life.” From the balcony, Raffaella watched the performance, and as the song ended, I glanced up to see her wiping away tears. It was easily the sweetest moment of the night

To close out the night, Samia returned for a three-song encore that featured “Pool,” “Is There Something in the Movies?” and my personal favorite “Honey.” The crowd had been energized all night, but “Honey” took it to another level. Everyone was dancing and shouting all the lyrics back to her with full force. It was one of those euphoric sing-along moments that made the whole room feel electric. Ending the show on that high note was the perfect sendoff.

There’s something special about watching an artist come into their own, and with this tour, Samia feels like she’s fully stepping into her power. The Bloodless Tour isn’t just a celebration of a new record: it’s a celebration of growth, connection, and everything her fans have come to love about her. From the intimate moments to the full-blown sing-alongs, this show had it all. If the Boston stop is any indication, the rest of the tour is going to be something truly unforgettable.
