Samantha Margret unpacks inherited trauma in “to make”

Date:

Singer-songwriter Samantha Margret writes music for her listeners to own their story, body and feelings. Her alt-pop style includes poetic lyrics that are perfect for reflecting during a late-night drive, and her dark production style adds a sense of drama.

Margret’s newest single, “to make,” dropped June 20. For Margret, the single represents a “splinter of inherited trauma pulled directly from [her] body.”

About the song, she added on Instagram:

“This song helped me untwist the riddle of my childhood and adolescence. We all have to grow up somehow and it’s so so hard. I can’t wait for you to hear it.”

“to make” perfectly captures Margret’s feelings of suffering, empathy and rage. Her stellar sound production allows the listener what it feels like to be in her mind, and even allows for a deep sense of connection with the piece.
