Ryan Mitchell, former contestant of The Voice, has released his new single “I’m Not Alright”, holding back none of his emotions.
Mitchell shared more about the new single:
“I wrote it while sequestered alone in a hotel during filming, confronting isolation, bad habits, and my sobriety journey I shared on the show.”
The single is heavily influenced by 90s alternative rock and has Nirvana-esque vibes. Lyrically, it confronts dealing with dark emotions and admitting the need for help. A rock guitar solo brings in that 90s rock and grunge that fans will know and love.
The biggest takeaway from the new single is having the bravery to not sugarcoat what you’re going through. It’s okay to admit that you’re not okay or that you’re struggling emotionally.
Sometimes, music is about being brutally honest about these dark emotions that we all confront at some point or another in life, and how to overcome them. Other times there may be no overcoming them, and it’s okay not to be okay.
