Tennessee rock duo Lenox Hills released their nostalgic new single titled “Novocaine” on Aug. 22. The Nashville band, consisting of brothers Luca (vocals) and Packy Mullin (guitar), was first founded in 2017 and is now best known for their raucous yet dynamic sound.
A song exploring the feeling of moving through life numb, almost sleep-walking, “Novocaine” evokes a feeling reminiscent of listening to a ’90s coming-of-age-film soundtrack. It’s a song one can find themselves jamming out to in their rooms on a warm, summer night while staring at the ceiling. Fans of bands such as Radiohead, Kings of Leon, and The War on Drugs will take notice of the inspiration within the band’s gritty, atmospheric guitar, introspective lyrics, and dynamic storytelling.
“Fever Dream,” the duo’s debut single released March 29th, 2024, sparked a chain reaction of success, racking up over 73,000 plays on Spotify. Other releases include “Lights Off,” (2024) and “Just Like In December” (2024), which is a slow-burn anthem tapping into themes of regret and nostalgia with reverb-soaked guitars that feel like homesickness. “Are We Good To Go?”, released earlier this year, is the counterpart to “Just Like In December,” encapsulating the early 2000s alt-rock vibe with a cathartic melody. It rose to popularity on TikTok, accumulating over 10,000 streams on Spotify as well.
Whether witnessing the band live in concert or listening through your headphones, Lenox Hills invites all fans to visit their soundscape, a world in which you can sincerely feel connected to the band both emotionally and lyrically.
