The long-awaited comeback from the makeup mogul is finally here, in the form of a rhythmic, afrobeat-inspired track for the new Smurfs movie releasing this July. The film, in which Rihanna voices Smurfette, is supposedly a deeper dive into the Smurfs’ lore, slightly different from the original story we all know and love.

The three credited producers — Jon Bellion, Pete Nappi, and Fallen — produced and wrote the track during a writing camp at Bellion’s vacation home last summer. Bellion, who’d previously worked with Rihanna on her chart-topping hit with Eminem, “The Monster,” expressed his excitement in a Billboard interview over creating something so new and fresh that came together organically in a jam session.

Rihanna’s track record of chart-topping hits is nothing short of impressive, from “We Found Love” to “Work” to “Umbrella,” she’s had her fair share of number 1s. Fans have been eagerly waiting for new music since her career shifted towards building her hugely successful beauty brand, Fenty Beauty. She hasn’t, however, escaped the public eye due to her booming beauty business and high-profile relationship with A$AP Rocky. She recently made an appearance at the 2025 Met Gala, debuting her 2nd baby bump.

The singer and Fenty founder previously released music in 2022 for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack, where she contributed two tracks: “Born Again” and the soundtrack’s lead single, “Lift Me Up.” We’ve yet to see some fully original music from the singer recently, outside the world of movie soundtracks. But for now, fans can enjoy this fun-loving, upbeat track, as well as her performance as Smurfette in the new movie.
