Paperwhite bring us closer to “This Feeling” on new single

Date:

Last year, sibling synth-pop duo Paperwhite returned after a brief hiatus with the release of “Unfold.” Fans were brought back to old times, getting lost in the dreamy and vibrant world of Paperwhite that they have come to know and love, but they were also taken to the future. The track was the first of new music from the duo, which will be released through their sophomore EP, Reach, this June. The EP will also feature “By Your Side,” which was released in March. Additionally, there will be three other tracks that join “Unfold” and “By Your Side,” with one of those being “This Feeling.”

On “This Feeling,” Paperwhite inject a bit of optimism into the world. While the lyrics are troubled, as we get lines like “It breaks my heart knowing there’s so much good / But it’s hard to find” and “I got lost waiting for better times / Closing my eyes,” a bit of respite comes through in the music. Paperwhite decorate the track with immersive beats, playful rhythms, and colorful instrumental choruses, which put us in a place of hope. All the while, the recurring “I get this feeling” line settles in each time it repeats, so even if we can’t identify the feeling, we are brought closer to it the more it is said.

About “This Feeling,” Paperwhite share,

“We all have those moments where the world feels unrecognizable and we’re not sure what’s coming next. But there’s something inside of us that tells us to keep moving forward. Ultimately, ‘This Feeling’ is about trusting the voice inside that knows that there is still magic in the world.”
