OLIVIA explores emotional fragility in “Paper Hearts”

Date:

Pop artist OLIVIA released her newest track, “Paper Hearts,” on Aug. 30. The singer-songwriter out of Belgium hails from an incredibly musical family, where both of her parents played in a band. Learning guitar from YouTube videos and the songs of Miley Cyrus, Colbie Caillat, and Taylor Swift, OLIVIA sharpened her musical ability. She found success on The Voice at the age of 17, and has since earned major collaborations with hit artists. Now, OLIVIA aims to share her own voice with the world through “Paper Hearts,” and through her highly anticipated EP, i love you, but i love me more.

In “Paper Hearts,” OLIVIA explores insecurities in modern relationships. The “paper hearts” in the track resemble the fragility in people’s emotions, as they give one another a paper heart rather than their true heart. OLIVIA’s ability to build tension as the track progresses beautifully highlights the delicate balance between desire and the fear of getting hurt.
