Rising indie pop artist OAKLND has released “the wedding song,” a heartfelt new single not tied to any upcoming project or promotional rollout. Instead, the track was written as a surprise for his fiancée.
“For the longest time, my fiancée has asked me why I’ve never written a song about her—why all my songs are sad, breakup songs,” OAKLND said.
“So, as a surprise for our wedding day, I wrote a track about our relationship and had it pressed onto a custom vinyl, with the artwork being a photo from our 2018 trip to California.”
The song is an expressive, emotive track that blends upbeat pop elements with lo-fi indie sounds reminiscent of Lizzy McAlpine, layered with strong lyricism and synth production by Holly Humberstone.
While OAKLND is known for songs that explore heartbreak and melancholy, “the wedding song” offers a bright contrast, celebrating love, cherished memories, and the deep bond he shares with his partner. It’s a personal love letter in musical form, and a perfect song to play for a wedding or romantic occasion.
