Nick Mara has released his debut single “Grateful,” and it is one that fans have been excited for.
Nick mentioned in a recent livestream that he was still searching for his sound and genre of music, but that he has always been inspired by the R&B sound. So, it was no surprise to hear the R&B similarities when listening to the song. “Grateful” gives the feel of being back in the early 2000s when artists like Usher were ruling the R&B world.
The song tells the story of not having enough time with someone, but still being grateful for the time you got to spend them. Even though your time was cut short, you still want a chance to go back to what you once were: “I’m so grateful for the time we had / but you already know that it’s not enough / If you thinkin’ we can get it back, back to what it was / baby tell me what, what we gotta do if we see it through I’m afraid that things will change / That’s why I’m grateful for the time we had / but you already know that I’m tryna get it back-back-back.”
Nick gained a massive fanbase between the years 2016 and 2022 when he was in the band PRETTYMUCH. Nick parted from the band in 2022, and the band went on to officially split in 2023. After stepping back from the band, Nick went on a break, with many of his fans wondering what he was up to. With all these fans missing him, it was no surprise to see such an excited reaction when he started posting again, teasing that something was coming.
