Femi, a Nigerian artist born and raised in Congers, NY, released one last summer banger titled “Come My Way” on Friday, Aug. 29. The singer, songwriter, and producer first started making music at a young age, often found playing the piano in church. After performing under the stage name Frank Pierce, he eventually changed it to his birth name Femi (short for Oluwafemi), a decision the artist felt represented his most organic and authentic connection to his music.
With perfect timing during late summer, “Come My Way” is a groovy Afro-pop dance song about seizing the moments before the seasons slip away. The verses sit in what feels like a quiet hesitation, keeping to yourself whilst surveying the room, picking up on the energy around you before acting. It’s one last chance, one last connection, and having absolutely zero regrets in the decisions one decides to take. Fans of artists such as Wizkid, Ayrra Star, Burna Boy, and Rema can vibe really well with this song.
Under UK-based record label Lily Era, Femi is working hard and gearing up for the release of his first ever EP entitled 2020. The artist expresses his excitement for his fans to “hear all the music sitting on his hard drive” and plans on putting out a full-length album in the near future.
