Paris Paloma takes a bite at the patriarchy with new single, “Good Boy”

Date:

Paris Paloma has released her long-awaited new single, “Good Boy.” The single was released alongside its music video, starring Paloma and Tom Blyth, who is known for his role as President Snow in “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” from the Hunger Games” franchise.

“Good Boy” has been highly anticipated by fans since its live debut on June 5th in Manchester during her Cacophony Tour, as it is the first piece of music Paloma has released since her single, “The Rider,” in November of 2024. After her single “Labour” took off on social media, the Derbyshire-native emerged as a prominent advocate for women, and her latest release “Good Boy” continues that charge.

The song opens with a foreword from Oscar-winning actress and outspoken advocate for women, Emma Thompson: “I knew one day I’d have to watch powerful men burn the world down / I just didn’t expect them to be such losers.” It truly speaks to the main theme of the song, which calls out the men who uphold the patriarchal system and idolize billionaires in hopes to one day be in that position of power: “Good boy! Has any of the money trickled down yet? / You say one day you’ll be rich? Well, tell me how then / Unpaid marketing department for the power.” The song is backed by acoustic guitar and dog-barking, which perfectly captures the essence of Paloma’s condescension towards the men who lap at the capitalist systems that will never benefit them.

“The song is my way of saying to these men that you have more in common with me, you have more in common with everyday women than the billionaires and the manosphere ‘role models’ that you idolize and uplift with no reward,” Paloma said in a previewing video on Instagram. “Not even a ‘well done’ or a ‘good boy.’”

Stream “Good Boy” now.
