Dublin-based indie-alternative rock band Big Sleep have just released the final single before their debut album, “Old Friend.”
“Old Friend” is a track grounded in love and loss, and is a well-crafted example of Big Sleep’s signature blend of heartfelt lyricism and soaring guitar-driven instrumentation. The song has proven to be expressive, expansive, and intimate, transporting listeners into a cathartic mental atmosphere.
The band shares more about the song:
“[It’s] A song about friendship, grief and gratitude; for those we love who’ve passed away and for the real ones who are still alive and kicking.”
The band’s debut album Holy Show will be out February 20 via Lab Records, and fans can pre-save the album here.
The band’s debut album is divided into two thematic halves, beginning with youthful nostalgia and idealism on Side A, and then transitioning to heartbreak and disillusionment on Side B. Listeners can expect the band to be introspective in their musical storytelling, while offering raw unpredictability. The title, Holy Show, is an expression used in Ireland that refers to a messy situation, or a scene of emotional chaos, which will be exemplified in all 10 tracks on the album through the vulnerable concepts of love, loss, and identity.
