Naz Hejaz Pens a Dark Reverie for Our Addictions

Date:

Naz Hejaz is a Los Angeles based experimental artist emerging with a thought-provoking debut single entitled “Incurable Dreams“. Written about the cyclical nature of recovery from a stubborn addiction that keeps finding it’s way into her psyche, Hejaz writes about the tendency of our vices to reappear in the dark corners of our mind. Drawing inspiration from the critical musings of Pink Floyd on the modern world, Hejaz is a songwriter who captures the repercussions of our societies taste for gluttony.

“Incurable Dreams” reverberates through your core with pulsating beats, plunging bass lines, and abstract vocals. She sings, “I need it / You know that I can’t breathe / So help me change my mind.” The lyrics and sonics lean into the helplessness we often feel against the seductive pull of our bad habits.

Revealing more on her track, Hejaz confides, “Teeing off the cycle of addiction is the seductive and surreptitious longing for that which ruins your life. Like the long lost lover you could never quite relinquish, it tugs at your sleeve and itches your brain until you give in. An “Incurable Dream”, if you will.”
