Beloved by the hardcore community and transformational to its growth, Bo Lueders — guitarist for Chicago hardcore staple Harm’s Way and co-host of the Hardlore podcast — has passed away at the age of 38.

His contributions to the scene were all-encompassing: he spent time in XweaponX, boosted the careers of emerging acts through Hardlore Records, and interviewed his heroes alongside his best friend and co-host, Colin Young, through their shared podcast. The podcast has featured legends of the genre, from Freddy Madball (Madball) to Vinnie Stigma (Agnostic Front) and Davey Havok (AFI).

Bo, alongside Colin, asked introspective and unique questions, cultivating comfort and authenticity from their guests episode after episode. Through their interviews, Hardlore has introduced a new generation of hardcore fans to the foundational music that formed their genre.

Beyond his own musical accolades, Lueders was a persistent advocate for an inclusive hardcore community. He promoted a straight-edge lifestyle and remained deeply committed to spotlighting upcoming artists, ensuring the scene remained alive for future generations.

The Hardlore podcast shared the following post to their Instagram yesterday:

Bo Lueders’ legacy will be remembered in hardcore and beyond forever. Melodic Magazine extends our deepest sympathies to his loved ones and the hardcore community.
