Indie-rock band Milky Chance released the third rendition of their mixtape series, Trip Tape III, featuring 11 tracks of covers, previously released songs, and a new tropical single, “Camouflage.”
The German duo is known for their distinct folktronica sound, most notably for their hit songs “Stolen Dance” and “Flash Junk Mind,” which solidified their top spot amongst the alternative-indie crowd in the 2010s.
Trip Tape III features a cover of Tommy Richman’s 2024 viral hit “Million Dollar Baby,” and a remix of Theo Katzman’s 2020 song “What Did You Mean (When You Said Love).” The oldest cover on the project is their groovy version of Black’s single “Wonderful Life” from their 1987 album of the same name.
The album includes two versions of their 2024 single “Naked And Alive,” showcasing both the previously released studio version and a live session alternate. Trip Tape III also features Milky Chance’s most recent hit “Passion,” with both singles gaining international recognition on SiriusXM’s alternative rock charts throughout 2024 and 2025.
The duo released a humorous visualizer to accompany the 36-minute compilation, featuring both vocalist/guitarist Clemens Rehbein and bassist/percussionist Philipp Dausch embarking on their own little motorcycle trip.
The original mixtape was born of the COVID-19 pandemic lull of musical activities, and the duo found solace in creating new songs, reimagining tunes that they love, and finding an outlet to pour their time into. Released in November 2021, the first Trip Tape includes their hit single “Colorado,” as well as their cover of Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” and Dua Lipa’s “Levitating,” in addition to some previously unreleased demos.
Trip Tape II released in 2022 included hits like “Synchronize,” demo versions of singles “I Am Lost” and “Fabulous,” and covers of Harry Styles’ “As It Was” and Tame Impala’s “Lost in Yesterday.”
