Melodic Music Monday: September 1

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

Sabrina Carpenter, “Tears” – The track feels cinematic, like something you’d hear during a cheeky montage in a romantic comedy. It’s very ABBA-coded, blending sexual desire with small, meaningful acts of love, all wrapped in a glittery, tongue-in-cheek delivery. “I get wet at the thought of you / Being a responsible guy / Treating me like you’re supposed to do / Tears run down my thighs,” Carpenter sings in the chorus, turning basic decency into a full-on fantasy. It’s hot and weirdly relatable. Who knew IKEA furniture and emotional intelligence could be foreplay?

– Hannah Croteau

——

The Kid LAROI, “SHE DON’T NEED TO KNOW” – On his newest single, “SHE DON’T NEED TO KNOW,” LAROI reconnects with Jon Bellion, Pete Nappi, Rogét Chahayed, Tenroc, Xplicit, and Dopamine, the collaborators behind his hit single “GIRLS”, to craft a rich, immersive pop song. You know you have a hit on your hands if the magic of Bellion touches the track.

– Reagan Denning

——

Knox, “White Knuckles” – “White Knuckles” presents itself as a dynamic track that tackles fighting for love and refusing to let go of it despite the many hardships and obstacles in the way. The song’s production feels cinematic, almost like a dramatic confession of love in a coming of age film with its soaring guitars and pounding drums. It’s a cohesively stunning addition to Going, Going, Gone that keeps up that same vibrant emotionally-charged energy found in the standard version.

– Amber Bintliff

——

Matt Maeson, “Halfway to Whole”Matt Maeson is back, and he’s louder, braver, and more vulnerable than ever. The Virginia-born, Nashville-based multi-platinum artist has just dropped his powerful new single “Halfway to Whole,” a gut-punch of honesty that wrestles with hopelessness, insecurity, and the dark corners of self-doubt. “This song did a lot for me,” Maeson shares.

– Carl Markland
