Melodic Music Monday: October 27

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

Mumford & Sons and Hozier, “Rubber Band Man” – The single is exactly the soulful, folk rock tune you would expect from musical powerhouses like Marcus Mumford and Hozier. The two switch off vocals throughout the song, making for an intense song of yearning: “You’re a world away but you’re still the same // I know you by your heart and I will call you by your name.”

– Ann Korwan

——

Cigarettes After Sex, “The Crystal Ship” – The double release of “Anna Karenina” and “The Crystal Ship,” met with enthusiastic responses from devoted fans, can be interpreted as a sign of a potential new record from the beloved slowcore trio.

– Kira Imani Andrews

——

Estella Dawn, “Conversations” – The piano-driven track unfolds like a poem instead of following a traditional pop song structure. With her signature soulful vocals, Dawn sings about reaching a breaking point in a relationship after failing to have her love and devotion reciprocated time after time.

– Germano Blanco

——

Mac Miller, “Carpe Diem”Mac Miller’s estate has released the 10th anniversary edition of the late rapper’s 2015 album, GO:OD AM, via Warner Records. The commemorative LP features three new tracks: “Royal Flush” (featuring Vinny Radio), “Cable Box,” and “Carpe Diem.”
