Melodic Music Monday: March 2

Date:

Every Monday, we bring you a playlist filled with new tracks the Melodic staff has been listening to on repeat. Hear some of our latest obsessions below:

——

Oliver Tree, “Flowers” – Indie-rocker and internet personality Oliver Tree released his latest alternative song, “Flowers,” giving fans yet another taste of what’s to come on his upcoming album, Love You Madly, Hate You Badly, set to release this spring. A rage-filled breakup-anthem, “Flowers” will make you block your ex, wish them a violent death, and then dance on the wing of an airplane.

– Emily McCormack

——

Chelsea Jordan, “picky choosy” – On “picky choosy,” Chelsea finds her own worth. She lets fans know that they can give themselves everything they deserve, without anyone else stepping in. With her sweet and soulful vocals, she sings, “I gotta lotta love to give and I’m not gonna waste it / On somebody else / Who wants all the nice things / But they can’t afford it / So, I’m gonna give it to myself.”

– Christine Sloman

——

Brooke Taylor, “I Hope It’s Easy” – Singer-songwriter Brooke Taylor has released her new single “I Hope It’s Easy,” a track written for the lover girls of the world: the ones who are hoping for honesty and maybe just a little less heartbreak in their next chapter.

– Joseph Ine

——

Mitski, “In A Lake” – “In A Lake” opens the album with a newer sound from the singer, displaying influences of Southern American traditions as banjos and fiddles play alongside double bass, backing Mitski’s soft vocals. The song itself explores themes of suspended transformation—that quiet, unbearable moment before change arrives; “But in a lake, you can backstroke forever / The sky before you and the dark behind you / And in a big city, you can start over.”

– Ann Korwan
