——

Twenty One Pilots, “Drum Show” – “Drum Show” was announced this past Wednesday, August 13, across Twenty One Pilots’ social media pages; it caused an immediate uproar amongst the fan base. They brought this news to light with a 30-second teaser clip of the song’s introduction, ending with the release date “8.18” flashing on the screen. Some supporters had come to an agreement under the duo’s Instagram comments that this track resembles past Twenty One Pilots songs “Navigating” and “Next Semester“, which got them even more excited since these are some fan favorites.

Florence + The Machine, “Everybody Scream” – “Everybody Scream” opens with beautiful and ethereal harmonizing by Welch that is quickly followed by a catchy bass riff and drum beat. The song comes alive in its electric music video with choreography that parallels possession and lyrics that are similar to a spell a witch might cast: “The harvest, the needle protect me from evil / The magic and the misery, madness and the mystery.” Like many Florence + the Machine songs, “Everybody Scream” makes you want to jump around and dance.

American Authors, “Race Car”American Authors are a platinum-selling band who’s origin story dates back to their time at Berklee College of Music. Since then, the group has surpassed a billion streams, played festivals across the globe, and seen their triple-platinum single “Best Day Of My Life” hit #11 on Billboard’s Hot 100. In their minds, it’s only just the beginning. Their new single “Race Car” is a testament to that. The sonics are vibrant and original as American Authors tell a story of an intense affair that ends up spinning out in the dust.

– Lucy Hendricks

——

Lenox Hills, “Novocaine” – A song exploring the feeling of moving through life numb, almost sleep-walking, “Novocaine” evokes a feeling reminiscent of listening to a ’90s coming-of-age-film soundtrack. It’s a song one can find themselves jamming out to in their rooms on a warm, summer night while staring at the ceiling. Fans of bands such as Radiohead, Kings of Leon, and The War on Drugs will take notice of the inspiration within the band’s gritty, atmospheric guitar, introspective lyrics, and dynamic storytelling.
