Some might know Marco Luka as the lead vocalist of alt-pop band Weston Estate, while others might know him as the eclectic solo singer of hits like “do me wrong” and “pretty little lies.” In 2019, Marco started a career as a solo artist when his debut single “paradise” took off, amassing over 35M streams and earning praise from the likes of Ones To Watch and EARMILK. He then went on to release his debut EP, +++, in 2021, where he cemented his status as an act that you must know. Earlier this year, Marco released his sophomore EP, INSOMNIA, which included fan-favorite tracks like “forevermore” and “aire.” The project holds a lot of value to Marco, as the first collection of songs he ever made—the ones that got him signed as an artist—was called INSOMNIA. While he scrapped that project years ago, he held onto the name and saved it for the right moment. He now has over 120M streams to date in his solo catalog.
Marco will definitely be adding to that number with his newest single, “TALK TO ME.” A buzzy alt-R&B track, “Talk To Me” builds on the impulse of desire, temptation, and lust. The verses contain melodic synth riffs that give way to Marco’s pleading vocals before opening up into danceable choruses with pop melodies and R&B nuances. All the while, Marco sings, “You say you’ll never leave me, but I know you will / These other girls entice me, but I want you still” and “I hope that you think of me when you’re waking up with somebody else,” unable to pursue but struggling to let go.
In the music video below, we see Marco vibing out to the song around New York City. We catch him by the subway with friends, blasting the song from the speakers of a boom box. Next, we hit up the beach, where Marco is dressed more for the arctic than for the sand and sun… Still, he and his friends have a good time chilling and listening to the music. The good times continue at the market, on the ferry, and on a sightseeing bus, before concluding in the ocean. All the while, Marco finds little ways to sneak in references to SWAGPOP, which he cryptically describes as “the revolution” on social media.
