Maina Doe puts us in a trance with “Lucid Dreams”

Date:

Maina Doe Lucid Dreams

Upcoming R&B artist Maina Doe is nothing short of a spectacle. Her melodies, visuals, and breathtaking voice take the listener down a rabbit hole of colorful funk that will leave you completely obsessed. Doe marks her main source of influence as her hometown of Badung, Indonesia- where she gets her vivid imagery and voice from. She’s now settled down in Sydney, Australia, making the most out of its rich communities for Jazz and R&B artists such as herself.

“Lucid Dreams” is the latest single from Maina. It’s got everything a good R&B song could need. The beginning of the track opens with an ethereal, dreamlike harp melody that then transitions into the main instrumental. There’s a funky slap bass melody that holds the structure of the song together. And as if it couldn’t get any better, Doe’s incredible vocals practically make you feel like you’re floating. The background harmonies in the chorus complement the jazzy melody as she sings, “How can you go up if you’ve never gone down?” This track feels like it could easily be on a Daniel Caesar or even a Jacob Collier record due to its satisfying harmonic blends & dark, soulful production.
