Lucy Dacus bets on love with third track “Best Guess” from her upcoming album

Date:

Lucy Dacus, the singer-songwriter known for her solo indie work and contributions to Boygenius alongside Phoebe Bridgers and Julien Baker, has released her third track, “Best Guess,” off her upcoming album Forever is a Feeling out March 28. The release is accompanied by a music video featuring familiar faces.

Picture a Renaissance painting: intricate, multi-layered and awe-inspiring, yet filled with hidden messages. Lucy captures this artistic spirit, using purposeful lyricism and metaphors in her singles “Ankles” and “Limerence” as well as “Best Guess.”

The self-directed music video features “hot mascs,” selected through an open casting call on social media. Familiar faces, including Naomi McPherson, Cara Delevigne, Towa Bird and ER Fightmaster, were pictured gambling, playing pool and arm wrestling in suit-and-tie attire as Lucy sings “But you are my best guess at the future / if I was a gambling man, and I am / you’d be my best guess.”

Lucy proves that over-the-top vocals with heavy instrumentation aren’t necessary to get a message across. Her warm, flowing vocal style works to her advantage, carrying the track effortlessly. “Best Guess” continues the central love narrative of her album, offering another perspective on the intricacies of relationships and falling in love.
