Low Girl channel fury and freedom on “No Reasons,” second glimpse of upcoming debut album

Date:

With their new single “No Reasons,” indie-pop outfit Low Girl tap into the chaotic energy of heartbreak. Released August 6, the track marks the second preview of their forthcoming debut album Is It Too Late To Freak Out?, due October 22 via AWAL.

Following July’s lead single “Handbrake,” “No Reasons” is powered by pulsing synths, jagged guitar lines, and an unshakable rhythm. The song finds frontwoman Sarah Cosgrove confronting a breakup that had long been tilted by power imbalances. She explains:

“This was about an exceptionally messy, yet also weirdly empowering breakup. I’ve learnt that some anger is healthy, and it’s important for your self-esteem to stand up for yourself. I guess this song is a little step towards an equilibrium.”

Already landing spots on BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio 1, and Radio X playlists, Low Girl’s latest proves why the buzz is well earned. The quartet, comprised of Cosgrove alongside Bradley Taylor (guitar/bass/backing vocals), Toby Morgan (keys), and Tom Cosgrove (drums), have built their reputation on adventurous, emotionally vivid soundscapes. Past festival appearances at SXSW and Reading & Leeds, plus support slots for Dream Wife, The Murder Capital, and Swim Deep, have further cemented their reputation as a magnetic live act.

Fans won’t have to wait long to experience “No Reasons” in person. Low Girl will embark on an extensive UK headline tour this autumn to coincide with the album release:

Live Dates
19th Nov – Hyde Park Book Club, Leeds
20th Nov – Kazimier Stockroom, Liverpool
21st Nov – The Grace, London
22nd Nov – Esquires, Bedford
25th Nov – Edge Of The Wedge, Portsmouth
26th Nov – Portland Arms, Cambridge
27th Nov – Teesside University, Middlesbrough
28th Nov – Gullivers, Manchester

If “No Reasons” is any indication, Is It Too Late To Freak Out? will be a kaleidoscopic debut that dances between tension and tenderness, rage and release.
