Singer-songwriter Linnea creates a lonesome soundscape in her debut single, “Lone Star Motel,” the first of an upcoming series of 2023 releases.
Described by Linnea as “desert sleaze,” the track is a melancholic release of emotions, ranging from sadness and loneliness, with just a glimmer of hope. The imagery she creates is cinematic in its details, and universally comforting in a way; the idea of the “motel” as a sanctuary allows the listener to place themselves in solitude, whatever that might be from their own experience.
“Lone Star Motel” draws inspiration from 90s alternative rock, with a heavy dose of americana permeating through in the visuals the song presents. Linnea’s voice has an air of nostalgia, but is undoubtedly fresh and evocative; inspired by Sheryl Crow and Mazzy Star, the track brings out deep emotions and transports the listener. In heartbreak, it provides a comfortable place to dive in.
