Date:

Lil Skies is a multi-platinum artist entering a new era with full force on his explosive new album The Evolution of the RoseThe project is an enticing blend of hip-hop and alt-rock as Lil Skies reflects on his journey as a father, a musician, and an ever-evolving individual. Combining deep, introspective narratives on his mental health with cathartic, free-spirited anthems, The Evolution of the Rose celebrates the duality of life at every stage.

Hyperactive beats, fleeting melodies that effortlessly flow, and confident vocals that assert Lil Skies’ perspective make this album a sheer standout. His opening song “Sick and Tired” shares a powerful message about pulling yourself up out of a dark phase. Followed by “Burn (feat. Landon Cube)”, Lil Skies lights up the track with a full-circle reflection on his path as an artist. “Ganja” is an undeniably catchy banger that sets the soundtrack for a wild night out. Fourth track “2Much 2Fast (feat. Landon Cube)” leans into the alt-rock influences that course through the project with heavy riffs and bustling percussion. “My Anxiety” returns to the inner-psyche of Lil Skies as he voices his insecurities over pulsating beats. “The Loners” is a hyper-saturated head rush that muses on his introverted tendencies. He sings, “My hearts in the toaster and my soul is just fried.” Seventh track “Falling Backwards” is championed by an infectious melody that questions if Lil Skies is pursuing the right path toward success.

“Windows Down” is a coast down the highway laced with vibrant electronics and dopamine-inducing vignettes. Followed by “Bright Side”, Lil Skies admits his high hopes for the future in spite of the intense pressure he feels to make it. “Xs And Os” explores the layered emotions that follow a breakup over lush riffs and racing beats. Eleventh track “Chaos” is about the obstacles that surround Lil Skies in his everyday life and how he’s committed to rising above his enemies. “Wildfire (feat. Ravenna Golden)” is about an intense, all-consuming relationship that pushes him to the edge. “Renegade” cranks the accelerator with frantic riffs and kinetic vocals. Closing track “Benjis” ends on a high note as Lil Skies assures us all, he’s not going anywhere.

Lil Skies worked closely with alt-rock legend John Feldmann to create the atmosphere of the album. Feldmann has previously worked with Panic! At the Disco, Good Charlotte, Avril Lavigne, and The Used. It’s no surprise that a similar spirit of rebellion comes through on The Evolution of the Rose. Lil Skies will perform alongside Trippie Redd at Toyota Arena (Ontario, CA) on September 12th. The Evolution of the Rose is a powerful next step for Lil Skies in his dynamic career as an artist.
