Leannie Brings Cinema to Songwriting in “Ended Differently”

Date:

After taking off on TikTok in 2020 with her #guessthatsong videos, singer-songwriter Leannie continues to amaze with her recently released track, “Ended Differently”. Being a songwriter since the age of 13, Leannie hopes to use her platform to inspire other new musicians to pursue their dreams, no matter what their connections in the industry are.

Leannie’s songs often feature nostalgic, sentimental feelings and strong emotions. “Ended Differently” is no exception, and is inspired by Leannie’s favorite female-driven pieces such as Jennifer’s Body (2009) and Don’t Worry Darling (2022).

About her inspiration, Leannie said:

“I really like that this song takes on a very obvious filmmaking and movie-world theme. It feels very me, and it perfectly combines various elements of my biggest passions: my dream since childhood to act in musical films, my desire to make cinematic-sounding music, my often theatrical mannerisms and my inclination to intensely emote every time I perform.”

“Ended Differently” is a moving piece inspired by the French Chanson-Realiste genre, taking specific influences from Edith Piaf and Charles Aznavour. Leannie’s writing process for the track began in a voice memo rant in a parking lot, and has blossomed into a wonderfully orchestrated final product.
