Laura Pieri ushers in a new era with “Just a Little”

Date:

All month long, Brazilian-born, NYC-based artist Laura Pieri has flexed her ability to construct immersive worlds for fans. She can seamlessly blend music and visuals to create one-of-a-kind experiences, a talent that comes very naturally to her. And with October lending itself to the theatrical and the dramatic, there was no better time for her to use her skills. Laura, for instance, got crafty and turned iconic songs into dark, cinematic masterpieces. She covered Lady Gaga’s “Marry the Night” (Vampire Version), Charli xcx’s “party 4 u” (Siren Version), and Rihanna’s “Disturbia” (Werewolf Version), focusing on a distinct archetype of female power. It all culminated in her annual Halloween party at The Box NYC on October 25, where Laura turned these haunted worlds into one unique universe.

To cap off October, Laura is releasing “Just a Little,” a fun and seductive track that marks the beginning of a new era. You can almost feel the textures and see the colors built into the song, as each rhythm, each beat, and each riff have a pop to them that makes them stand out. All the while, Laura gives us sensual lyrics like, “Let’s whisper in the dark / Play lipstick games” and “You just want more / Want to explore,” tempting listeners to follow her into this flirty realm. There’s a retro yet fresh vibe throughout that makes it an engaging listen, taking listeners all the way to the end of the track where Laura teases, “Feeling sinful / Just a little.”

“Just a Little” follows Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR), a companion EP to her highly acclaimed 2024 project, Frankie. On Frankie, Laura shared four tracks, including fan-favorite “Daughter of Demeter,” that alluded to her story of survival. With Frankie (ON THE DANCEFLOOR), she fused these songs with a club-like production that transformed them into stories of celebration. She also introduced listeners to a new song, “Flown Away,” which closed out the project.

About “Just a Little,” Laura shares,

Sweet and sour, playful and self-aware, ‘Just a Little’ carries the belief that desire and shame are two sides of the same coin. I’ve always struggled with feeling like I’m too much, like I don’t belong, like being this way made me broken. ‘Just a Little’ became a kind of reclamation, not just of desire, but of self-permission. It’s the moment I stopped trying to edit my instincts to fit someone else’s moral architecture. Because aren’t we all, just a little sinful?”
