In 2022, BBC Introducing recognized London-based singer-songwriter Ladybyrd as “one of 2022’s outstanding newcomers.” When you listen to her hits like “Too Close To Call” and “Sub Zero,” it is easy to understand why Ladybyrd was given such an honor. Her music provides listeners with much to think about and connect with, from the themes of self-discovery and growth to the commanding vocals and alluring sonics. She is going to continue to draw listeners in this year, as she is currently recording music for an upcoming television series and is slated to tour. She is also going to give us lots of new music, starting with “Way Back Home.”
On “Way Back Home,” Ladybyrd has us reconsidering former relationships. Amongst stirring strings, her vocals take on a haunting quality à la Lana Del Rey, creeping in and floating through the music. She has second thoughts about letting someone go, singing, “All in all / We’re not strangers in the end” and “Did you ever really let go? / It’s not like I can let go now.” As we see in the video below, she is determined to “find my way back home to you,” moving through the city and searching for closure.
Telling us more about “Way Back Home,” Ladybyrd shares,
“This song was written in March last year, and I’ve been dying to release it ever since! It’s the first of many more songs and marks a new chapter for my music. I hope you love it.”
You can listen to “Way Back Home” on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
