jxdn’s “Reputation” is a confident comeback

Date:

jxdn is back with his new single “Reputation” and this one made fans’ jaws drop.

From the first line, “I know you know my reputation,” it’s clear this song isn’t about clearing his name. It’s about owning it — the good, the bad and everything in between that people think they know about him.

Fans immediately said this song reminds them of the 2014 album Journals by Justin Bieber. That doesn’t come as a surprise, as through jxdn’s whole career he has expressed the admiration he has always had for Bieber.

The track blends pop with the emotional edge of early 2000s rock (similar to Bieber), mixed with track beats and the right amount of pop production to make the song as catchy as it is.

Lyrically, jxdn flips between frustration and flexing. One moment he is defending himself (“You drag my name in every conversation”), and the next, he brushes it off with a great amount of confidence (“I was cool back then but I’m swag now”). It feels like he’s calling out everyone who has ever spoken about him behind closed doors, while also making it known that he couldn’t care less.

The chorus, “What am I supposed to do? / Tellin’ me what to do,” hits like a mini tantrum, but in the best way possible. It’s chaotic, creative and relatable if you have ever felt like people are trying to control your life and your image.

He also released the official music video, and he did not disappoint. It even includes choreography at the end, which is something that fans have never seen from jxdn.

With “Reputation,” jxdn isn’t asking for approval — he’s taking back the narrative. It’s bold, a little messy, and totally him. Whether you’re here for the lyrics, the vibe, or just the energy he brings to life in his music, the song proves he is not going anywhere.
