ill peach and Madi Diaz explore the effects of a carrying a “HEAVYWEIGHT” on new single

Date:

ill peach—an LA-based indie pop duo—teams up with Madi Diaz to address the weight of grief in their new single, “HEAVYWEIGHT.” The song explores it all—the good, bad and everything in between—without dancing around the reality that carrying a “heavyweight” is consuming and nearly impossible to ignore.

The collaboration with Madi Diaz feels like it was always meant to be. “HEAVYWEIGHT” features striking vocal flips from ill peach on the chorus, joined by Madi’s effortlessly smooth voice, adding texture and depth to the indie pop track. The song’s repetitive line, “I’m just trying to keep it light / tryna keep it light” captures the internal struggle of trying to keep the grief of someone or something inside while trying to appear unaffected.

Fans of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Dora Jar will see similarities in their means of storytelling—minimal yet effective instrumentation that carries the listener through the song gracefully. If you’re someone who appreciates beautifully layered vocals and satisfying harmonies “HEAVYWEIGHT” is calling your name.
