Korean pop superstar HEYOON continues to flourish as a solo artist with her third single, “Addicted,” released via Universal Music Korea. After five successful years as a member of global pop group Now United, HEYOON announced her departure in March 2023. She went on to release her first single “Pivot” featuring Armani White in November 2024. The rising star is more than just a singer; she is a committed philanthropist, supporting LA non-profit The Art of Elysium. Her influence has also extended into the fashion world, earning attention from Nylon, The Hollywood Reporter, and PAPER Magazine.
In this bold new single, HEYOON successfully tries her hand at deep house. She took a front seat in the creation of “Addicted,” leading the way in the writing, composition, and even production of the track. There are classic elements of deep house like muted bass, shuffled percussive layers, and rich jazz-funk chords that brought the genre to the mainstream in the 1980s. If this is her first big hands-on creative endeavor, she’s undoubtedly got a monumental career ahead of her.
What really makes this track special is the combination of those elements with more modern stylistic choices found in HEYOON’s vocal performance and some of the ambient sounds she chose. It’s very sexy both musically and lyrically, exploring seduction and ecstasy: “Tension’s burning over / Underneath the lights / Won’t you pull me closer / I, I, I’m / Falling in the motion / Such a paradise / Dancing in devotion.”
It’s an extremely well-executed party song to get people up and dancing. It’s easy to imagine enjoying this in a club, at a beach party, or at a music festival.
“Addicted” is available to stream wherever you listen to music.
