Good Neighbours announce debut album ‘Blue Sky Mentality’

Date:

Good Neighbours have announced that their highly anticipated debut album Blue Sky Mentality will be released on September 26th via Polydor Records. Blue Sky Mentality is available for pre-order/pre-save here

Following the band’s successful Glastonbury debut and North American tour with Mumford & Sons, the announcement comes alongside the release of their new single “Suburbs.” The new track serves as the latest taste of what’s in store for the upcoming album and was first premiered as BBC Radio 1’s Hottest Record on July 9th. “Suburbs” brings together Good Neighbours’ signature sun-drenched euphoria and coming-of-age clarity in this bold, bittersweet anthem. It’s a cathartic release with soaring vocals and luminous synths that explores leaving your hometown behind to chase a dream and the freedom and nostalgia that come with that decision. Speaking on the song, Good Neighbours shares,

“Suburbs is a message back to our younger selves. Coming from small towns outside of London, it was hard to dream big without getting shot down. This track is our anthem for breaking free from that mindset and chasing something bigger.”

The news feels almost full-circle for the band as they celebrated with a sold-out show at London’s Sebright Arms, which is the same venue they played their very first gig at in November 2023. Blue Sky Mentality captures the complex feelings that come with being away from home and excited to experience new things, while still feeling a bit homesick. It was written during a time when Good Neighbours found themselves on the road navigating new cities, late nights, and long-haul flights. It’s fueled by indie-pop nostalgia and features 14 tracks complete with shimmering choruses, hopeful charm, and introspective themes. Expanding upon the record’s significance, the band continues,

“Blue Sky Mentality has been our motto since day one. Our band began as a kind of light relief – a creative outlet to break from jobs that we couldn’t stand and some tough personal times. Over the last year, we ran with that feeling, writing our debut album on the road – in the back of tour buses, hotel rooms, and scattered corners of the world. That’s what Blue Sky Mentality means to us – finding light, friendship and a sense of escapism wherever you are.”

Good Neighbours plan to do a string of intimate shows surrounding the record’s release at select indie record stores throughout the UK. Tickets went on sale on the morning of July 10th and can be found here. The band will also be embarking on a North American headline tour this upcoming fall.
