Following their recent signing with the Parallel Vision label, Girl Tones share their new single “Got It.” Opening with high-energy fuzzy guitars and punchy drums, the duo’s latest musical effort continues to define their signature artistic vision, one that combines nostalgic aesthetics with a visceral, ferocious artistry.
Since making their musical debut last summer, otherworldly rock duo Girl Tones have continued to boldly go where no band has gone before. Composed of sisters Kenzie (vocals, guitar) and Laila (drums), Girl Tones have cemented themselves as one of indie rock’s most exciting up-and-coming acts, earning a great reputation for their thrilling live shows, punk rock ethos and unrelenting sonic power.
“Got It” conveys Girl Tones bringing their signature grit and glamor to new sonic depths, combining buzzed out guitars with a dangerously playful edge. Echoing vocals dance over pulsing drum beats, cementing the song as a raging and anticipatory track that leaves listeners wanting more long after the song fades out.
“‘Got It’ is a very charged song for me,” Kenzie says of the new single.
“It was born out of anger and defiance. Ultimately it is about holding your ground in the face of uncertainty, and taking that leap of faith to fulfill your dreams.”
The group’s new song arrives alongside a stop-motion video shot frame-by-frame by Chloe Tyler. Described as a “demented arts and crafts project,” the video is littered with Easter eggs alluding to Girl Tones’ previous works. Through both its lyrics and music video, “Got It” is a track that masterfully dances along the edge of soft and vengeful.
Girl Tones continue to embody this optimistic defiance as they travel down their inevitable path toward rock ‘n’ roll stardom. Currently on the road supporting Silversun Pickups, Girl Tones will make their festival debut this summer with appearances at Lollapalooza, Shaky Knees and Austin City Limits. Following their dates with Silversun Pickups, the sisters will hit the road once more with Cage The Elephant this fall.
Since they hit the ground running with their debut single “Fade Away” in August 2024, Girl Tones have released a handful of eclectic singles — all of which explore a different corner of their intergalactic artistry. Earning praise and recognition from Cage The Elephant’s Brad Schultz, who signed Girl Tones on as the very first act to join his label Parallel Vision, the sisters have also toured with the likes of The Velveteers and hey, nothing. With a number of exciting shows on the horizon, Girl Tones undoubtedly have many more tricks up their sleeves.
