Fujii Kaze releases “Love Like This” from upcoming album, ‘Prema’

Date:

When you have a song in your heart and a piano by your side, what more could you need? For Japanese artist Fujii Kaze, this was enough to win over a global audience of 179K, as proven during a global livestream performance of ‘LOVE ALL SERVE ALL STADIUM LIVE’ at Panasonic Stadium Suita in Osaka a few years back. Fast-forward to last year, and his one-man concert at Japan’s largest stadium, Nissan Stadium, saw an audience of 140K across two days. His Tiny Desk Concert for NPR, which was also released last year, currently has 21M views. Additionally, Fujii’s previous albums, HELP EVER HURT NEVER and LOVE ALL SERVE ALL, both reached number one on Billboard Japan’s Hot Albums chart, so no matter if he is performing live or digitally releasing music, his fans are there every time.

On September 5, Fujii is set to release his third album, Prema. This project features production by Greg Kurstin (Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Kesha), Tobias Jesso Jr. (Harry Styles, Dua Lipa), and Sir Nolan (Selena Gomez, Tinashe), so you know that the songs will be fire. The songs will also cover a wide range of genres, including funk, R&B, soul, and jazz. These amazing producers and eclectic song choices already make Prema a must-listen, but with the album also being Fujii’s first-ever English-speaking album, the bar is set very high. With about a month to go before the release, he gives us “Love Like This,” the first track that was finished for the album.

On “Love Like This,” Fujii taps into the beauty of pure connection. With lush and careful vocals and a patient delivery of the lyrics, Fujii sings, “I’ll never find another love like this, it’s true” and “I’ll never find another love like this, I know,” basking in his feelings. There is a lot of heart and soul here, and with the glitzy new wave feel of the track, you can’t help but be enchanted. You can check it out in the music video below, which was directed by Aerin Moreno.

On social media, Fujii mentions,

“What is the purest form of love? And the supreme bliss that flows from it? I guess I don’t know it yet, but in this song, I pretended I did.”

You can listen to “Love Like This” here.

Pre-save Prema, out September 5, here. Pre-order a physical copy here.

It should be noted that if you order the limited signed edition, you will receive Prema, as well as the bonus disc Pre: Prema. On the bonus disc, fans will be treated to seven tracks. Of the seven, six were previously released as singles, including “Michi Teyu Ku (Overflowing),” the A.G. Cook-produced “Hana,” and fan-favorite “Feelin’ Go(o)d.” The seventh track is the unreleased “It’s Alright.”
